About This Design
The owlbear cub is round in a way that survives being shrunk to the size of a coin, which is more than can be said for most of the camp. Everyone else needed a face you could read at 4cm. He needed two eyes and a beak and he was done.
We engraved rather than printed it. Printed grips wear through at the edges first, usually within a few months, because the ink sits on top of a surface your fingers drag across a few hundred times a day. Engraving goes the other direction — the design is cut into the metal, so there is nothing to rub away. It also means no colour, which took some getting used to, and then stopped being a compromise.
Drawn in-house, by hand, by people who have absolutely lost sleep over this game.
