About This Design
Scaled accurately the axe disappears into the outline. Scaled up it becomes the silhouette, and the silhouette is the thing anyone actually sees from across a room. So it is larger than it should be, deliberately, and she does not appear to mind.
Reds were the difficulty. Her skin, her hair and her gear all sit in the same family, and felt does not do gradients — so each one had to be pushed further apart than the reference to stay separate at arm’s length. The result is warmer than the source material and we have made peace with that.
